Your files stay with you.

This policy explains what MediaKit does — and does not do — with your files and information. The short version: browser tools process media locally on your device.

Last updated: September 2026

The short version

Media processing stays in your browser. Sharing a result uploads it temporarily. Browser tools do not require an account.

Local media processing
Optional temporary sharing
No media in analytics
No account required for tools

Your files stay on your device

All media processing happens directly in your browser using WebCodecs, WebAssembly, and Web Workers. Your browser reads the file locally so it can process it, but MediaKit servers do not receive your media during local processing. Creating a share link uploads only the result you select. Your videos, images, and audio files do not leave your computer during browser-based processing.

Personal data and accounts

Browser tools can be used without an account. If you sign in with Google, we store your Google account identifier, email address, display name and avatar information. Signed-in feedback conversations and share ownership are linked to your account. We do not request your Google password.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics and Google Analytics to understand how the site is used and improve the experience. These services may process technical information such as page views, device or browser details, and approximate location. Cloudflare Web Analytics is designed to provide anonymous, aggregated statistics; Google Analytics is provided by Google and may use cookies or similar identifiers. Our first-party analytics also records page visits, tool events, browser family, language, search result counts, an identifier stored in your browser, and a country code supplied with successful processing requests. The homepage may show recent successful tool activity as separate anonymous bubbles. Each bubble contains only a coarse location label (a country when available, otherwise worldwide), a tool, and a time rounded to 15-minute intervals; it never includes a session identifier or exact timestamp. Country labels are shown only when at least three distinct browser identifiers used tools in that country during the past seven days. When country information is unavailable, worldwide activity is shown only if at least three distinct browser identifiers completed processing during the past seven days. After a successful run, you may optionally submit a one-click helpful/not-yet rating. Ratings are linked to the same anonymous browser identifier to prevent repeat submissions for that tool; public summaries are shown only after at least ten distinct browser identifiers have responded. These analytics do not include the media files processed in your browser.

Data storage and security

Account information and feedback conversations is stored in Cloudflare D1, a serverless SQL database. Authentication tokens are JSON Web Tokens (JWT) signed with a secret key. Media processing remains local by default. If you explicitly choose Share, the generated result is uploaded to temporary Cloudflare R2 storage for up to 24 hours and is then removed.
