Edit animated GIFs without uploading your files

Use this online GIF editor to reduce file size, crop an animation, or adjust its playback speed. Each task starts from your original file, so trying another setting does not repeatedly compress your previous result. Download an edit and open it again to combine several operations.

Supported formats and limits

Input: GIF87a and GIF89a
Animated and single-frame .gif files, including transparent GIFs. The file contents are checked, not just the extension.
Output: animated GIF
Compression and cropping keep an animated GIF animated. Speed editing preserves the compressed image data, palettes, transparency, and loop setting.
One file, up to 100 MB
Large animations may exceed browser memory even below this limit. Inputs are also limited to 10,000 frames, 16 million canvas pixels, and 300 million canvas pixels across all frames.
Other formats
For JPG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF pictures, use Images to GIF. For a video clip, use Video to GIF. This editor accepts existing GIF files only.

How to compress, crop, or speed up a GIF

  1. 1

    Choose a GIF

Drop a file into the preview area or use Choose GIF. Check the dimensions, number of frames, and estimated duration of one loop.

  2. 2

    Choose your edit

Compress with a preset, color limit, and output width. Crop using a common aspect ratio or exact coordinates. Change speed between 0.25× and 4×.

  3. 3

    Process and compare

Run the edit, then switch between Original and Result in the same preview. Compare output size and dimensions. Cancel stops background compression or cropping.

  4. 4

    結果をダウンロードする

Save the edited GIF to your device. If it is larger than the original, try a smaller width or fewer colors, or download the original instead.

Common uses for a GIF editor

Website and email animations

Shrink a product demo or animated banner before embedding it. Check the actual size limit of the destination before publishing.

Reactions and stickers

Crop empty borders or choose a square composition to keep attention on the subject.

Tutorials and support replies

Slow down a short sequence so readers can follow each step. Variable frame timing is scaled rather than replaced with one uniform delay.

Presentations and product demos

Speed up long pauses or crop a screen recording to focus on the relevant interface. Use Video to GIF first if your source is a video.

How your files are handled

Selected GIF bytes and generated results stay in this browser. Compression and cropping run in a local background worker; speed editing changes the GIF timing locally. No media file is uploaded to our servers. Removing or replacing a file releases the editor’s references to it, and canceling compression or cropping terminates its worker. Website assets and analytics may still make network requests; local file processing does not mean the whole website works offline.

よくある質問

Is this GIF editor free?

Yes. You can edit and download a GIF without registering an account.

Will compression reduce quality?

It can. Fewer colors and lower detail retention can alter gradients and edges. Start with Balanced and compare the result. Even 100% detail retention can change colors when reducing the palette or resizing.

Why is the compressed GIF larger?

An already optimized GIF may not get smaller. Different palettes or frame optimization can increase its size. Try a smaller output width or fewer colors; the original remains available.

Does cropping apply to every frame?

Yes. The same rectangle is applied throughout the animation. Use the selection preview, aspect-ratio presets, and pixel fields to check the area before processing.

Does changing speed lower image quality?

No image re-encoding is performed for speed editing. Existing nonzero delays are scaled per frame. Changed delays are rounded to 10ms units with a 20ms minimum. Zero-delay or missing-delay frames use a 100ms baseline; 1× leaves the file unchanged.

Why does my GIF look slower in another app?

GIF stores frame delays in hundredths of a second. Browsers and messaging apps may impose their own minimum delay. The displayed duration is an estimate and may differ from playback on another platform.

Can I combine compression, cropping, and speed?

Each edit uses the original input. To combine operations, download one result and choose that file as the next input.

Why can a file below 100 MB be rejected?

Compressed size does not measure processing memory. Very large dimensions or many frames can use too much memory, especially on a phone. This editor checks canvas size and total frame pixels before starting.
