Why blur sensitive details in an image?
Photos and screenshots often contain information that was not meant for a public audience: a face, license plate, home number, email address, chat message, order number, or API key. Covering that detail before publishing reduces the chance of sharing more than you intended.
The image blur tool lets you draw up to six regions over the details you want to hide. The image is processed in your browser, so the original file does not need to be uploaded.
Blur or pixelate: which effect should you choose?
Blur creates a softer transition and is usually the most natural choice for faces, backgrounds, and large objects. Pixelation creates visible blocks, which can make a censored area easier to spot and works well for short text, numbers, and small interface details.
Whichever effect you choose, make the region slightly larger than the sensitive detail. Leave enough margin for antialiasing, shadows, and nearby characters. Review the exported image at its final size before sharing.
How to protect several areas
- Open the blur or pixelate image tool and select a JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, or BMP image up to 50 MB.
- Move the first region over the face, plate, text, or other detail that should stay private.
- Add another region for each separate detail. You can add up to six regions and resize each one independently.
- Choose blur or pixelation and adjust the strength while checking the live preview.
- Export as PNG, JPG, or WebP, then inspect the complete result before posting or sending it.
Privacy checks before publishing
Look at the whole image, not only the region you edited. Check the corners, reflections, browser notifications, filenames, visible addresses, and any repeated detail elsewhere in the frame. A blur only protects the area that is covered; it does not detect or track sensitive content automatically.
If the image contains EXIF data such as GPS coordinates or camera information, use the image metadata tool to inspect or remove it. If the result is larger than needed, use the image compressor after the privacy edit.
How local processing works
The browser decodes the selected image with standard Canvas APIs and writes the effect into a new export. The source and result remain in the current browser tab and are not stored on the MediaKit server. Clear the file or close the tab when you finish, particularly on a shared computer.
